Rise in rankings give credence to The Q’s global status as a primary destination for major concert tours

Cleveland, Ohio— Quicken Loans Arena (The Q) is climbing the charts in Pollstar magazine’s list of Top 200 arena venues worldwide for entertainment ticket sales. In the trade publication’s annual year-end business analysis report for 2015, The Q ranked No. 13 in the United States and No. 33 worldwide in ticket sales for top touring attractions. The venue’s rankings have been on a steady rise over the past year, giving credence to Cleveland and Quicken Loans Arena’s status as one of the most active arenas in the world and a primary destination for major concert tours.

Over the past year, Quicken Loans Arena's Pollstar rankings for arena entertainment ticket sales in the U.S rose from No. 24 to its current No. 13 standing. In the same category among top arena venues around the globe, The Q’s ranking moved up from No. 53 to its current standing at No. 33. This upward trend is expected to continue with major tours and events scheduled for Cleveland in 2016.

Quicken Loans Arena (also known as “The Q”) is northeast Ohio’s premier sports and entertainment facility and major attraction for top tier concert tours and family shows—as well as home to the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers, AHL Lake Erie Monsters, AFL Cleveland Gladiators and host to the Mid-American Conference and NCAA basketball tournaments. The Pollstar report, which covers the global concert business, does not include ticket sales from the arena’s sporting events.

“Quicken Loans Arena is proud to be a part of downtown Cleveland’s growth, momentum and vibrancy. The recent Pollstar rankings truly reflect the hard work that goes on behind the scenes – from the relationships and facility reputation we build with promoters, agents and event producers, to our team members who support the sales, marketing and operational efforts for every event,” said Len Komoroski, Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena CEO. “We are proud to have been a world-class stop for so many touring artists and entertainers throughout 2015, and are excited to welcome those coming to Cleveland this year.”

In 2015, The Q hosted major tours and events that included the NBA Finals, NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship Midwest Regionals, Taylor Swift, Imagine Dragons, two sold-out Kevin Hart performances, Kenny Chesney, Alternative Press Music Awards, Motley Crue, and four Garth Brooks performances. For this upcoming entertainment season, Quicken Loans Arena will welcome Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, WWE Fastlane (pay per view), Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, Janet Jackson, Demi Lovato, and Maroon 5 – with more to be announced soon.

This July, Quicken Loans Arena will be the primary venue for the 2016 Republican National Convention. Hosting the 2016 GOP convention will create significant benefits for Greater Cleveland, attracting 50,000 visitors, creating jobs and generating an estimated $200 million in economic impact. In addition to the immediate economic benefits, the attention of the entire nation and a majority of the world will be focused on Cleveland for an entire week in 2016, creating invaluable exposure.
