Harlem Globetrotters Deliver Tidings of Comfort and Joy to Cleveland Community Through Random Acts of Kindness

T’was the week before Christmas, and all through The Land, a Harlem Globetrotter came to town, lending a hand! Joining forces with R.A.K.E (Random Acts of Kindness Everywhere), the Ambassadors of Goodwill spent a day in the Cleveland community enriching lives, encouraging kindness and promoting the act of paying it forward.

Throughout the day, Scooter Christensen of the Harlem Globetrotters and Ricky Smith of R.A.K.E. impacted the lives of hundreds of Clevelanders with 12 various Acts of Kindness, including:

  • 200 vouchers valid for one free coffee courtesy of McDonald’s, and paying for the meals for 10 cars in the drive-thru
  • 30 vouchers valid for one sandwich, courtesy of Mr. Hero
  • 100 vouchers valid for one Mrs. Field’s cookie for holiday shoppers at the Great Northern Mall
  • Breakfast for 10 cars at a Dunkin Donuts in Lakewood
  • 40 pairs of socks, 10 tubes of toothpaste, 36 toothbrushes, 2 laundry baskets, 14 towels for the men of the City Mission
  • 30 candy canes to Sherwin Williams marketing team members
  • 5 dozen donuts for Destination Cleveland and Greater Cleveland Sports Commission
  • Six pairs of gloves and 10 hats for the Trinity Cathedral Church in Cleveland
  • 30 Globetrotters headbands, 30 Globetrotters wristbands and 30 pairs of tickets for a first grade classroom at the Luis Munoz Marin School in Cleveland
  • 50 candy canes for the families and staff at the Ronald McDonald House in Cleveland
  • A courtesy lunch for a neighboring table at TownHall in Ohio City
  • Globetrotters VIP packs for 10 lucky Cleveland Cavaliers fans at the Cavs game Wednesday night

“As the Ambassadors of Goodwill, it felt incredible to take a day and dedicate it to helping others in the community,” said Christensen. “Putting a smile on the faces of thousands of fans is what we’re all about, and these random acts of kindness have proven that no act is too small to make a difference in the lives of others.”
