Newly Crowned U.S. Men’s And Ice Dancing Champions Along With Former U.S. Ladies Champion Will Guest Star In Emmy Award-Winning Smucker’s® Stars On Ice® In Cleveland
Evan Lysacek, Tanith Belbin & Benjamin Agosto, and Kimmie Meissner Join Olympic Silver Medalist Sasha Cohen and a Stellar Cast of Olympic, World and National Champions, as America's Premier Figure Skating Production Arrives "LIVE and In Color" at the Quicken Loans Arena, March 27th at 7:00 PM
Cleveland, OH (February 27, 2008) – Fresh off winning his second consecutive U.S. Men's National figure skating championship, Evan Lysacek will join the Emmy award-winning Smucker's Stars on Ice tour in Cleveland, when they visit Quicken Loans Arena on Thursday, March 27, 2008 for a 7:00 p.m. performance. The two-time World Bronze medalist and perennial crowd favorite will be making his debut in America's premier figure skating production and will share the ice with Olympic and World Silver Medalists and four-time U.S. Ice Dance Champions Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto, and U.S. National and World Champion Kimmie Meissner, who will also perform as a guests in the show.
Lysacek is joining the tour following his bid for Gold at the World Championships, March 17-23 in Sweden. Known for his courage and passionate skating, Evan is considered one of America's top hopes for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. He is also one of the most ambitious American male skaters, attempting quadruple jumps in both his short and long programs.
Belbin and Agosto truly have put the sport of ice dancing on the map in the United States. Not only do they have personality and pizzazz, but they finished the best of any American team in Olympic history in 2006 when they won a silver medal. Belbin and Agosto are never afraid to try something new, as they have performed routines with incredible musical range, from Elvis, to hip hop to Chopin.
Meissner is one of the most popular U.S. skating stars. She is only the second American woman to ever land a triple axel in competition. That jump, which she landed at the 2005 U.S. Championships in Portland, OR, helped vault her to her World Championship in 2006.
For more than two decades, Olympic Champion and figure skating icon Scott Hamilton has thrilled audiences of all ages with the Emmy Award-winning Smucker's Stars on Ice. Now in its 22nd year, America's premier figure skating tour is proud to present "Live and In Color," the all-new Smucker's Stars on Ice production featuring Olympic Silver medalist Sasha Cohen, and an amazing cast of thirteen additional Olympic, World and National Champions.
Enhanced by a broad spectrum of popular music, intricate lighting, dynamic costumes, cutting-edge choreography and state-of-the-art technology, audiences will be front and center as champion skaters interact and perform as only they can. Each show will be a unique spectacular as fans witness the excitement of their favorite skaters jumping, spinning and flying past their seats. If you have enjoyed skating on television but have never seen it in person, Smucker's Stars on Ice: LIVE and In Color will provide a most unforgettable experience only derived from the true thrill of Olympic and world-class skating.
Serving in its sixth year as the tour's title sponsor, The J.M. Smucker Company is proud to be associated with Smucker's Stars on Ice for providing wholesome, family entertainment, and also takes great pride in acknowledging the literacy and education initiatives of Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
